It has been quite a while since the Baron 3.44 was released. Although the Baron kept on participating in several online and on-site tournaments there was never enough progress to support the release of another version. This is largely due to changed priorities as I haven’t been working a lot on the engine. Just fixing some bugs that I came across while playing a tournament, but nothing substantial

Recently I decided to look at the evaluation tuning engine again and found some improvements there that were promising. Some more work on actually tuning the evaluation followed and now there is The Baron 3.45.

Some highlights of the changes (apart from tuning the evaluation from scratch):

Fixed Chess960 support
Using Fathom for Syzygy probing
Setting the Syzygy path in options works now
Improved/correcting scores for syzygy hits
Small improvements in search and evaluation patterns
