Opus 5 - new chess engine

 

Opus a UCI chess engine written from scratch in a single 24-hour session by one language model (Opus 5), as an entry in the 24-Hour Chess Engine Benchmark.

Estimated strength: ~3250 Elo at the benchmark's time control (range ~3180–3320, see Estimated strength for what that number does and does not mean).

Running it

Windows x86-64 with POPCNT, BMI2 and AVX2 (x86-64-v3). Fully standalone, no DLLs required.
UCI engine: id name Opus 5 chess 24hrs, single-threaded, Hash option in MB.
Load it in any UCI GUI (Arena, CuteChess, Banksia) or drive it with fastchess.
