New: a repertoire book for Rebel

It has been quite some time ago when I was involved in making opening books. My latest effort in this field was around 2012, in the Rybka era. Since then I was mainly occupied in making the superfinal opening books for the great TCEC tourmament (the latest two editions in cooperation with Grandmaster Matthew Sadler). When I saw the very good results of the latest Rebel versions, I was very eager to produce a new opening book that suits Rebel’s playing style. So here we are: Rebel.bin, a special repertoire book for Rebel!

It’s a relatively small book, that completely focuses on very topical opening lines, played by many engines – like Stockfish and Leela Chess Zero – and top Grandmasters.

The purchase process for the download version on the ChessBase website took only 5 minutes. Downloading the files from the cloud was even quicker. The installation itself, which involved five large files, took maybe 7 minutes, including restarting the system and entering the serial number I received upon purchase. The start image for Fritz 20 has a strange mosaic of colors; perhaps I'll get used to it. As you can see in the second screenshot, the program interface hasn't changed much; only the icons are different (we've been using Fritz 17 until now). It looks nice, but it's no major revolution. The next two screenshots show engine management and the installation of the UCI chess engine (here, Cataphract 1.1). As you can see, there are no changes.
