Spike, a chess engine by Ralf Schäfer and Volker Böhm, developed since early 2004 from scratch, incorporating ideas from two former programs by both authors, Cheetah and IceSpell. As a pure engine without a GUI, Spike supports both the Chess Engine Communication Protocol and the UCI protocol. Spike is Arena partner engine (source).

  HypnoS is a free and strong UCI chess engine derived from Stockfish  that analyzes chess positions and computes the optimal moves. HypnoS does not include a graphical user interface (GUI) that is required  to display a chessboard and to make it easy to input moves. These GUIs are  developed independently from HypnoS and are available online. HypnoS development is currently supported on the Openbench framework. OpenBench (created by Andrew Grant) is an open-source Sequential Probability Ratio Testing (SPRT) framework designed for self-play testing of engines. OpenBench makes use of distributed computing, allowing anyone to contribute CPU time to further the development of some of the world's most powerful engines. HypnoS 190324 download

Chess engine: SF 16.1 MPV

Author, Eduard Nemeth: This engine is better suited for analysis than the current newer developer versions. The following version is maybe even better. I implemented the network with Dimension 3072 as well as the Random Op. MultiPV mode. Other features include Minimum Thinking Time and Slow Mover. As default is Random Op. MultiPV = 3. I consider this setting to be the best for tactical analysis. With Random Op. MultiPV = 1 the engine behaves like Stockfish 16.1 with network dimension 3072.
