We hope you will consider supporting us today. We need your support to continue to exist, because good entries are more and more work time. Every reader contribution, however big or small, is so valuable. Support "Chess Engines Diary" even a small amount– and it only takes a minute. Thank you.

Spikea chess engine by Ralf Schäfer and Volker Böhm, developed since early 2004 from scratch, incorporating ideas from two former programs by both authors, Cheetah and IceSpell. As a pure engine without a GUI, Spike supports both the Chess Engine Communication Protocol and the UCI protocol. Spike is Arena partner engine (source).
