This small engine has already passed the first Chess Engines Diary tests and performed quite well (better than the benchmark Critter 1.6a).

According to the February 2026 CCRL list, Malika 0.418 achieved an ELO rating of approximately 3211 points. Everything indicates that the current version plays much better.

The engine participated in two consecutive tests. In a large tournament (1,300 games), the engine placed 19th (out of 26 engines). Details in the entry: Sky Mini MPV wins New Engines Test by Chess Engines Diary, 2026.03.09

In the second test, on a more powerful computer, the Malik 0.892 engine placed 20th out of 25 engines. This means the engine is too weak to be further tested by us unless a new version is released. Look: SF PB 280226 wins New Engines Test by Chess Engines Diary, 2026.03.07

The purchase process for the download version on the ChessBase website took only 5 minutes. Downloading the files from the cloud was even quicker. The installation itself, which involved five large files, took maybe 7 minutes, including restarting the system and entering the serial number I received upon purchase. The start image for Fritz 20 has a strange mosaic of colors; perhaps I'll get used to it. As you can see in the second screenshot, the program interface hasn't changed much; only the icons are different (we've been using Fritz 17 until now). It looks nice, but it's no major revolution.
