Astra 7.0 what's new?
This release includes major changes to Astra.
Previous versions were trained using lc0-generated games. Astra now uses fully self-generated games instead. Training started from randomly initialized weights and improved gradually as each new network produced stronger training data. In total, 21 networks were trained before surpassing the master weights.
The self-play games were converted into Stockfish binpack format and trained using Sorei, with a total of about 12 billion positions. The training data is available on Hugging Face.
