Chess System Tal 2.03 what's new?
Chess System Tal 2.03 — bug-fixed release. Two self-contained Windows x64 builds (NNUE E1019 net embedded; just run the .exe):
CSTal-2.03-E1019-AVX2.zip — works on all modern x64 CPUs (AVX2).
CSTal-2.03-E1019-AVX512.zip — ~10% faster than the AVX2 build on CPUs with AVX-512 (recent AMD Zen4+ / Intel); it will NOT run without AVX-512 — use the AVX2 build if unsure.
New in 2.03: fixes a rare crash (access violation) where an illegal king move — the king stepping backwards along a sliding checker's ray, or an undetected discovered check — could slip through legality checking, let the opponent "capture" the king, and corrupt the internal board. This affected both the AVX2 and AVX-512 builds (it was not AVX-512-specific). No change to playing strength or settings.
Earlier fixes (2.02): UCI eval king-bucket / BuildPinData; EPD-load buffer overflow.
