Preparations for the 09/2026 Chess Engine League season are in full swing.
A few changes are coming. The TOP-64, with four leagues of 16 chess engines each, will stay the same, but the number of games will double to 480 over four rounds instead of 240. Challenger Groups will grow in size, increasing from 25 to 30 engines per tournament. There’s also the possibility of bringing back Swiss-style tournaments with 11 rounds.
