Downloading Chess Engines – Why do we choose Free Hosting Platforms?
As we have mentioned on our websites, our archive of engines and other files currently exceeds 10TB, and it continues to grow. Free Google Drive and Proton Drive have too small a capacity and will fill up in less than a month. Hosting this volume of data on a dedicated cloud server can cost over $1,000 a year—an expense we simply do not have the budget for.
To keep our files accessible to everyone, we use free hosting platforms. While these sites allow you to download our files for free, they are businesses that need to cover their own costs. As a result, they generate revenue through ads that users must view before initiating a download.
