What's new?
Qapla 0.4.0 brings two things:

A good 100 Elo stronger than 0.3.2.

Syzygy tablebase support. Set SyzygyPath to the directory holding the .rtbw/.rtbz
files. SyzygyProbeDepth and SyzygyProbeLimit control how deep and for how many pieces the engine probes.

Binaries are PGO builds, tested on all three platforms with the compliance suite of
qapla-engine-tester:

Qapla0.4.0-win-x64.exe - Windows, 64 bit
Qapla0.4.0-linux-x64 - Linux, 64 bit, statically linked
Qapla0.4.0-macos-arm64 - macOS on Apple Silicon, new in this release
All three need a CPU with popcount support, which any x86 processor of the last decade has.

The purchase process for the download version on the ChessBase website took only 5 minutes. Downloading the files from the cloud was even quicker. The installation itself, which involved five large files, took maybe 7 minutes, including restarting the system and entering the serial number I received upon purchase. The start image for Fritz 20 has a strange mosaic of colors; perhaps I'll get used to it. As you can see in the second screenshot, the program interface hasn't changed much; only the icons are different (we've been using Fritz 17 until now). It looks nice, but it's no major revolution. The next two screenshots show engine management and the installation of the UCI chess engine (here, Cataphract 1.1). As you can see, there are no changes.
